Mr. Li, owner of Lucky Dragon, responds to recent allegations

Mr. Li reached out to the Daily Clue to release a statement responding to the recent allegations surrounding Lucky Dragon and his son Zheng Li. His official statement is presented below.

"In response to all these allegations. It’s obvious that the mayor and Edgar are working together. It seems their agenda is clear: draw attention away from the proposals and Laura’s legacy and spread their influence over the people. As we saw with Professor David, investigations are inherently biased and these investigations will result in extreme harm to the community. I’ve done my best to protect my fellow immigrants and the community I love and was willing to work with the mayor and Edgar and anyone else in reforming whatever was wrong with Lucky Dragon. I just have a question for the two: is this truly in the best interests of our community? Or just the best interests of yourselves? Please note: every single accusation has started with Edgar. He accused me. He accused my son. He is accusing everyone. Who is the one tearing apart our community? Again, I reiterate, I am willing to work with anyone to amend whatever wrong doing is occurring in Lucky Dragon. Immigration and justice is of upmost important to me personally. In fact, we have even sponsored some of our own workers such as Daniel…

I would also like to say that the Mayor has not once come to Lucky Dragon to speak with me nor has made any actions to actually investigate. This seems more of a way to “stir the pot”. This was a one-off thought with a lack of substance…

As a community who has seen the devastating effect governmental interventions can have on the ordinary citizen. We must think before we act. Secondly, Edgar is a fine young man. But has been incredibly aggressive and defensive. I simply want to work together for the good of the community but it seems that Edgar is more focused on tearing us apart. In terms of Laura. Again, she was a shining beacon. She worked closely with Lucky Dragon, and it would have literally been in my worst interest to do anything to harm her. I had no qualms with her and she supported Lucky Dragon and what we stood for. Together we hoped to revitalize the chinatown community. Now if we want to look at the evidence together we can. Let’s discuss the facts together. Who was last seen with Laura? Again, tonight our focus should be on Laura and what Laura stood for. We can and should handle this as a community with our community’s best interests in mind not a single person’s."
